880 successful CSEC, CAPE students to receive $500
Eight hundred and eighty students who were successful in the 2015 CSEC, CAPE and Associate degree examinations will each be presented with $500 today.
The presentation of the awards will be made at the Villa campus of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC), beginning at 9 a.m.{{more}}
A release from the Ministry of Education said to be eligible for the award, CSEC students must have gained five passes (Grade I to III) including Mathematics and English A.
CAPE students must have gained passes (Grades I to V) in at least two two-Unit subjects, as well as in the single Unit Communication Studies (or Caribbean Studies) in two consecutive years. Students in the various Associate degree programmes must have gained at least a B average.
Of the 880 students, 547 achieved the criterion in the CSEC exam; 198 in the CAPE and 135 in the Associate degree programmes.
Ninety-two students receiving awards for their performances in the Associate degree programmes come from the Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies and the Division of Technical and Vocation Education, while 18 come from the secondary programme of the Division of Teacher Education and 15 from the Early Childhood Programme.
Awardees are asked to take along photo identification when they go to the SVGCC to receive their awards today.
Those who are unable to attend this handing over ceremony may collect their award at the Ministry of Education, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015.
