Voters’ list shows 87,219 people eligible to vote

The latest voters’ list puts the number of persons eligible to vote in general elections in St Vincent and the Grenadines at 87,219.

The list, which was made available earlier this week, shows the number of eligible registered voters as at October 28, 2015.{{more}} According to information provided by the Supervisor of Elections, of the 87,219 voters, 44,354 are male and 42,865 female.

The largest of the 15 constituencies is East St George, with 7,499 registered voters. Between August and October 2015, 715 new people registered to vote. Of this number, 405 were males and 310, females.

This the second list to be compiled since the enactment of the Representation of the People (Amendment) Act 2015, which saw the names of over 20,000 people who had not updated their registration since June 1, 2005, being struck off the voters’ list.

Over 101,000 persons were registered to vote in the December 2010 poll.

General elections are constitutionally due in St Vincent and the Grenadines by March 2016.
