The delegation consists of 16 Youth Ambassadors who are selected from over 1000 college students in Taiwan, and have been rigorously trained for two months. They will tour St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and then Houston, USA.

The SVG teams include La Gracia Dance Company, Renaissance, Arabesque Dance Company, Ground Breakers and Scotia Bank South East Steel Orchestra.

This delegation will perform on stage to demonstrate authenticity, benevolence and sophistication of Taiwan, and present its natural environment and cultural heritage with a combination of singing, dancing and acting. They wish to show the audience the spirit conveyed by the theme of the delegation ‘Youth from Taiwan, Compassion for All,’ as well as the vitality of modern Taiwan.

During its stay, the delegation will call on Prime Minister Ralph E Gonsalves and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Girlyn Miguel, and will perform at the School for Children with Special Needs Kingstown. They will also meet with other Vincentian youth.

Through a wide array of exchanges and interactions, the delegation hopes to demonstrate Taiwan’s important role on the international stage as a humanitarian provider, a promoter of cultural exchanges and standard bearer of Chinese culture.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) launched the International Youth Ambassadors programme in 2009 to broaden Taiwanese youths’ horizons, promote youth exchanges and increase understanding of Taiwan’s development among various sectors of the host countries.

This year, 10 teams, with a total number of 160 Youth Ambassadors, will tour 41 cities in 35 countries all over the world.
