Sheet Drive for SVG’s hospitals part of Vincy Day USA – 2015

With thousands of Vincentians and other nationals expected to assemble on the campgrounds of Heckscher State Park in Long Island, USA this Saturday, August 15, a special drive will be part of Vincy Day USA- 2015.

The organizing committee of this the fourth year of Vincy Day has launched a Bed Sheet Drive, intended to supply the various hospitals in St Vincent and the Grenadines.{{more}}

Persons attending the day’s activities are asked kindly donate unopened twin sheets sets (preferably white) towards the drive.

Whilst people will be giving generously to the sheet drive, some lucky person can win himself or herself an Ipad mini.

Persons entering the park will be asked to complete a form which will be their entry to the draw. The organizers say that the eventual winner has to be on site to collect his or her prize.

Meanwhile, the newly formed St Vincent and the Grenadines – United States of America Sports Association (SVG-USASA), an extension of the Diaspora Committee, will be coordinating sporting events for the day.

Apart from the normal table games such as draughts, dominoes, cards and other family oriented forms of recreation, competitive events such as netball, football, cricket and track and field are planned, with prizes going to the winners.

The champion team in the netball competition will walk away with the Standard Caribbean Shipping trophy and the winner of the football segment is assured the KBB Shipping, Inc trophy.

Also, McMillan Plumbing & Heating is donating the trophy for the winner of the cricket competition and the winner of the track and field gets the trophy donated by Standard Shippers.

This year marks the fourth hosting of Vincy Day, which is the largest gathering of Vincentians in the USA. With the numbers rising each year, about 8,000 persons are projected to be part of the 2015 edition.(RT)
