Rotary Club offers job market training to young employees

About two dozen youngsters preparing for the local job market are receiving employment training, facilitated by the Rotary Club of St Vincent.

The seminar, dubbed “The Young Employees Socialization Programme,” began on Monday on the compound of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies.{{more}}

The course, which runs for two weeks, sees the youngsters being tutored on business and employment etiquette by a number of local business persons and professionals.

Some of the topics to be dealt with include business discipline, job applications, management philosophy, Information Technology, labour relations, entrepreneurship and expectations at the workplace, to name a few.

Presenters include Kirk Dasilva, Tony Regisford, St Clair Leacock and Felix Lewis, among others.

The opening presentation was made by local opthalmologist and motivational speaker Ken Onu, who presented on the topic “Setting Goals.”

At the end of the seminar, the participants, most of whom are graduates from a number of post secondary institutions, are expected to be better equipped for the employment market.

Those who are not yet earmarked for employment have been guaranteed interviews for various positions by certain business places.

The seminar was organized by the Rotary Club of St Vincent, in collaboration with the East Caribbean Institute of Banking and is sponsored by the Bank of Nova Scotia.
