SVGCC to offer vehicle wheel alignment service

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) will soon offer to the public an electronic vehicle wheel alignment service, in an effort to offset some of the costs associated with running its divisions.

Director of SVGCC Nigel Scott was speaking at the sixth annual graduation ceremony of the institution on Tuesday, when he highlighted that the training received at the Division of Technical and Vocational Education (DTVE) was expensive.{{more}}

“Technical, vocational and educational training is expensive. Consumables like engine oil in auto repair; butter, flour and rice in hospitality; blocks, tiles and cement in building construction; welding rods and…in engineering, these have to be provided every semester and you can’t recycle them. So, we are mandated by the Act that brought us into being to develop a business plan that will put us on a better financial footing,” he said.

Scott noted that the SVGCC owns one of two electronic vehicle wheel alignment machines in St Vincent and the Grenadines and will be offering this service and others to the public at a cost.

He stated that the DTVE is poised to carry out a cost recovery programme, which will bring much needed finances to the institution, while providing real life training experiences for students.

“We look forward to the support from the public in this venture,” the director said.
