South Leeward Highway project to be suspended for Christmas holidays

The South Leeward Highway Rehabilitation and Improvement Project will be significantly suspended for the Christmas holidays as of Friday, December 19.{{more}}

A release from Marlon Stevenson, the community liaison officer for the project said works on walls and curbs between Rillan Hill and Lowmans will continue until December 19.

The contractors have also indicated that in response to requests by stakeholders – the contractor will be potting holes in some areas on the road under construction. Potting will mainly be done at the Buccament Bay main road, Lowmans Hill, Shuffler/Dry Rock.

According to the release, all construction waste will be removed from the side of the road and north bound traffic that is diverted down through the Campden Industry Estate will continue during the holiday season. 

“The contractor is of the opinion that the main road along the excavated site cannot take two lanes of traffic without comprising safety,” the release said.

During the holiday period, a skeleton crew will be on stand by in the case of any emergency related to civil works on the project.

Work will resume on the project on January 5, 2015.
