Canadian photographer publishes book on SVG

Many persons may see St Vincent and the Grenadines in a different light after reading a recent publication, which features the multi-island state.

“Islands of Eden: St Vincent and the Grenadines,” a 150-page book by Canadian photographer Ferenc Máté, features several aspects of life in this country through photographs of people, {{more}}sites and wildlife and is punctuated with interesting text for the collection of visual masterpieces.

Máté was also responsible for St Vincent and the Grenadines being featured in the 2013 Seven Seas calendar for eight months of the year, when countries are usually allotted only one month.

“He really did fall in love with St Vincent and the Grenadines and sent a proposal for the tourism authority to work with him for him to do a book,” CEO of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) Glen Beache told reporters on Tuesday.

“I have to say his pictures are amazing. It’s always good to have a fresh eye, because a lot of things that we take for granted, people will see the beauty in it and pictures have a way of bringing out certain colours and doing certain things.”

While persons may wonder why the book could not have been done by a local photographer, Beache noted that “a local photographer could have done it if a local photographer made a presentation to the tourism authority, told us how we would benefit if we support it and bring it forward.”

“Islands of Eden: St Vincent and the Grenadines” is expected to be available at the SVGTA for the cost of US$50.
