PM to present Estimates December 17

December 17 is the date set for the presentation of the 2015 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure.

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, who made the announcement on Tuesday during a press conference, noted that he does not expect the presentation to extend beyond a day and a half.{{more}}

“In relation to the recurrent estimates, there is a little difference here, a little difference there,” Gonsalves said, while giving a general overview with regard to content.

He said the estimates still contain a strong housing programme, both in respect of the Housing and Land Development Corporation and the construction of low income houses and also in relation to the continued rehabilitation of houses affected by adverse weather.

Additionally, a sum of EC$3 million has been allocated for corrective work at the Clare Valley housing development project.

Money will also be allocated for the modernization of the health sector under the 10th European Development Fund, the Prime Minister said.

Funds for the restoration process of bridges and roads, under the Ministry of Transport and Works, are also included in the 2015 estimates.

The Estimates for 2014 amounted to EC$911.6 million. with $548.7 being recurrent expenditure, $105.7 million for debt amortization and $257.1 million for capital expenditure. (BK)
