In general, Caricom Energy Week 2014 seeks to build awareness of critical energy issues in various segments of society at the national level, but with significant focus on sustainable energy development. This focus is aimed at sensitizing the region to the importance of pursuing a path of sustainable energy through a greater awareness and uptake of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the interest of economic development.

Activities scheduled for the week include media programmes, visits to selected secondary schools, the official launch of Caricom Energy Week, the opening of the VINLEC solar PV installation at Lowmans Bay, a symposium with the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, and a National Energy Exhibition at the Methodist Church Hall on Thursday and Friday.
