Applications for Miss SVG invited

Applications are being invited from young women between the ages of 18 and 24 years who are interested in entering the Miss SVG 2015 show.{{more}}

A release from the Beauty Shows Committee (BSC) of the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) said the Committee is making early plans for the staging of Miss SVG 2015, which will be held on Saturday May 30th 2015, under the theme “A combination of passion and brilliance.”

Applicants should have completed Secondary and Tertiary school, where possible; not be married nor given birth to a child; be able to perform a talent; be able to attend all CDC training sessions and functions; satisfy the CDC that all appearances are up to the required standard.

Application forms may be obtained at the CDC’s office at Victoria Park, on the CDC’s website www.carnivalsvg.com or from Cheryl Rodriguez, Chairperson of the Beauty Shows Committee or Jackie Quashie, member of the BSC. Interested persons are asked to complete the application form and submit it to the office of the CDC along with a recent 4”x6” colour photo (portrait) – head to shoulder; a copy of their birth certificate; copies of qualifications; a one page biography.

All Rural Queens are specially invited to apply and consideration will be given to participants in rural pageants who have not won in their communities.

A University scholarship has been awarded to the winner since 2004 and, so far, eleven young women have benefitted from this award. Some have graduated and returned to SVG to make their contribution to national development.

The winners of scholarships from 2004 to 2014 are: Javorne Williams – 2004 ; Casynella Ollivierre – 2005; Sheridan Lewis – 2006; Melissa Yorke – 2007; Ronique Dellimore – 2008; Veronique Williiams – 2009; Aphesha Matthews – 2010; Aviar Charles – 2011; Carice Glasgow – 2012; Shara George – 2013; Shadeisha George – 2014.

The winner of Miss SVG pageant is given the opportunity to represent SVG in the prestigious annual Miss CARIVAL pageant and overseas pageants. During her reign, Miss SVG is required to perform national duties through the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture.

The reigning MISS SVG is Shadeisha George.
