The tenth edition of the National College and Career Exhibition featured an innovation this year.

Presentations made by lecturers at the two-day event, on behalf of various local, regional and international educational institutions, were streamed, via the Internet, to students miles away {{more}}at various schools across St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Students of forms three, four and five of secondary schools in Bequia, Union Island and those in rural areas on the mainland were able to log in and interact with the presenters, asking questions and having them answered in real time.

The event took place on Wednesday and Thursday last week at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.

This innovation is just the latest one to be adopted by the organizers of the event, which was hosted by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Medical Association, the Ministry of Education and others concerned with the development of education in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

More than 20 organizations were on hand on both days, seeking to woo the students and others who visited the exhibition into their classrooms or career fields.

The educational institutions represented included the various divisions of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, the University of the West Indies Open Campus, Humber College, Seneca College, St George’s University and the Trinity School of Medicine, to name a few.

Organizations present included the St Vincent and the Grenadines Medical Association, the Organization of American States, the SVG National Centre for Technological Innovation, the National Accreditation Board, the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force Coastguard and the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cadet Corps.

The opening ceremony for this year’s event included presentations from students of the Imani Pre-School, the St Mary’s RC School and the Girls’ High School.

Addresses were made by Aldia Gumbs-Dyer on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Dr Rosalind Ambrose of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Medical Association, with Senator Luke Browne giving the feature address.(JJ)
