Second Vincy All Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness Classic takes place this weekend

Local persons are supporting the notion that bodybuilding does not have to include the use of performance enhancing drugs.

Men in St Vincent and the Grenadines will have the opportunity to show off their naturally built bodies this weekend, while competing in the second installment of the “Vincy All Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness Classic.”{{more}}

Promoter Allan Hanson visited SEARCHLIGHT last week and explained that the show was about promoting wellness and a healthy lifestyle.

“Bodybuilding in St Vincent is about health and not so much about the drugs that they use to enhance their bodies. Natural means there’s no using of any steroids, any hormones and things like that,” he said.

Hanson, who has been competing in body building competitions since 1991, noted that in some competitions, persons are required to take urine and polygraph tests to ensure that persons did not use enhancing drugs.

While these measures will not be utilized for this show, Hanson opined that this country was the mecca of natural bodybuilding in the Caribbean.

“I think it’s very much necessary for us to promote natural bodybuilding in St Vincent and the Grenadines and around the Caribbean for that matter,” he said.

The promoter revealed that the 15 registered participants will be competing in a team bodybuilding category, as well as Mr Physique and Open Class bodybuilding.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 25, at the Peace Memorial Hall and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets, which are priced at $20, can be purchased at Ronnie’s Fitness Centre, located at McKies Hill and persons looking for more information can contact Hanson at 498-4753.
