Although she didnât place in the top three, St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ representative at the sixth edition of the Courts OECS Reading Competition gave a creditable account of herself in last weekâs finals.
Rheanna Harry, a student of the Windsor Primary School{{more}}, participated in the finals that took place in Grenada on Thursday, October 16, at the Grenada Trade Centre.
She competed against students from the host country, as well as Dominica, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis and Antigua and Barbuda.
Indra Grant, Courts St Vincent representative to the finals said that the nine-year-old, grade five student was one of the more fluent readers on the evening of the competition, gracefully reading through her narrative and news piece with satisfactory voice projection, enunciation and pronunciation.
Grant said that the keenly contested competition gave the top placed students a slight edge over Harry, resulting in her missing out of placing in the top three.
For placing in the finals, Harry received a certificate of participation, EC $1,000, a laptop computer compliments Courts, and a smart phone compliments Digicel.
The winner of the competition was Dominica, with Grenada placing second and St Kitts and Nevis third.
