Summit of Bolivarian Alliance to discuss ways to prevent, fight Ebola virus

An Extraordinary Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Treaty of Commerce with the Peoples (ALBA-TCP) will be held in Cuba on October 20, with the objective of agreeing on regional cooperation to prevent and fight the spread of the Ebola virus.{{more}}

A release from the Cuban Embassy to St Vincent and the Grenadines said in concordance with the United Nations General Secretary’s appeal to join the international efforts to prevent and fight Ebola, which affects West and Central Africa, Heads of State and Government, as well as other senior representatives from ALBA-TCP member states and from other international organizations, will define, during the Summit, a joint contribution to this important health challenge and to prevent the dissemination of the disease in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

St Vincent and the Grenadines will be represented at the summit by Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, chief medical officer Dr Simone Keizer-Beache and medical officer Dr Franklyn James.
