The East Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC) has provided support of $1,000 to the University of the West Indies Open Campus in support of the Annual Literary Fair.
The cheque was formally handed over on Tuesday, October 14 by Rachel Haslam, Sales and Promotion executive of the East Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC).{{more}}
In handing over the cheque to Ronnie Daniel, Marketing assistant at the Open Campus, Haslam noted that ECGC has had a long history of involvement in supporting activities of this nature and continues to take seriously its social responsibility of nation building. She further indicated that the company is pleased that the UWI Open Campus and the Vincentian Association of Artists, Writers and Producers Inc are encouraging Vincentians, particularly, our students to read more and to get involved in the arts.
The three-day event forms part of the National Independence celebrations, and showcases Vincentian talent in the literary, visual and performing arts.
The Literary Fair is one of the ways in which the Open Campus seeks to fulfill its mandate in centering the arts and highlights the importance of literary competencies to national development. The Literary Fair is being celebrated under the theme âTravel the World Through Readingâ and runs from Thursday, October 16 to Saturday, October 18, 2014.
