ULP South Leeward group calls on HLDC to correct faults

The South Leeward Constituency Council of the Unity Labour Party (ULP) says it is saddened by the tragedy which took place at the Clare Valley Housing Development on September 19, 2014.

“We sympathize with Dr Katisha Douglas for the sudden collapse of her house and the loss of her material possessions. This sudden turn of events in one’s life can cause much grief, trauma and an overwhelming degree of emotional pain.{{more}}

“We also sympathize with the immediate neighbours and all of the residents of the Housing Development. We recognize and acknowledge that the horror and emotional pain that all of you have endured cannot be truly measured,” a release from the constituency council, signed by chair David Williams said.

“If those in Authority had any doubts that the fears, complaints and concerns of the Clare Valley residents were real, the tragic events of last Friday should have dispelled any such notions. If ever delay and other stalling manoeuvres were tolerable, that time has long passed.

“Therefore, the South Leeward Constituency Council of the Unity Labour Party echoes the forthright statement of Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves and calls on the Housing and Land Development Corporation (HLDC), Housing Minister Montgomery Daniel and the entire machinery of Government to spare no resource, measure or effort to ensure that the needs of Dr Douglas and the complaints and concerns of the residents of the Clare Valley Housing Development are addressed and corrected with the dispatch that an emergency demands.”
