On September 16, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves announced that “TVSA” is the location indicator that has been assigned to the Argyle International Airport by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The prime minister, who was reading from a letter sent by the ICAO to the director of the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA), stated the newly assigned location indicator will be reflected in the next edition of location indicators which is scheduled to be published in September 2014.

Gonsalves highlighted that the assignment of a location indicator shows that “work is being done on several fronts in relation to this matter of getting the Argyle International Airport ready so that we can begin operations at a time which is most appropriate and suitable.”

A location indicator is a four character alphanumeric code that is designated to each airport around the world and used by air traffic control and airline operations for tasks such as flight planning. (BK)
