On Wednesday, a Digicel team, made up of country manager Sean Latty, marketing manager Juno DeRoche and marketing administrator Danielle Cupid, journeyed to Sandy Bay, where they handed over a wheelchair, a Digicel Mooli (desktop phone) and other items to the Sandy Bay Clinic.

The Mooli was donated for use at the Nurse’s Quarters.

Marketing manager Juno DeRoche said that the donation is aimed at making the lives of the nurses and patients that use the clinic easier. She stressed that apart from giving the Mooli (desktop phone), the company will also provide credit on a monthly basis for the phone.

In relation to the wheelchair, DeRoche said that during a recent visit to Sandy Bay, it was observed that the nurses were having difficulty moving patients around, “so Digicel decided to donate a wheelchair.”

Receiving the donation, staff nurse Laura Alfred said that the wheelchair and Mooli will go a long way in helping patients.

“We are grateful to Digicel for keeping their promise”, said Alfred, who added that the clinic services four communities (Overland, Fancy, Sandy Bay and Owia) with a combined population of about 5,500 persons.

“Just today (Wednesday) we had 70 persons visit us and this wheelchair will come in handy to help patients,” said Alfred.

Digicel is also looking at the possibility of installing a wheelchair ramp at the front of the clinic.
