Over 100 children attended the classes daily, with the attendance peaking at 140 on the final day.
Coordinator of the program Elsworth Richards said he was pleased with the large turnout. âThis year surpassed my expectations by almost 50 children, so we must be doing something right.â Commenting on the relevance of the theme, Richards said âWe want to get our kids to be loving, look out for each otherâs welfare, and not be hostile against each other.â
The theme centered around the Bible story of the Good Samaritan. The participants, ranging from age two to 18, discussed several topics including how to love neighbours, forgiveness, and showing kindness, patience and tolerance. They also memorized Bible verses and made craft related to the theme.
One of the teachers, Shevern Richards, described VBS 2013 as âa momentous week, where I had new experiences that will definitely last a lifetime. VBS was very challenging, having to deal with children with different interests and moral beliefs. However, it was such a blessing to impart Godâs word to the young minds.â
