IRD annual Tax Awareness Period commences

The Inland Revenue Department will be launching its annual Tax Awareness Period during the month of March 2013.{{more}}

As such, the department will be engaged in a series of taxpayer assistance programmes, as well as a number of taxpayer outreach activities and workshops.

The main objective for undertaking these activities is to inform, sensitize and educate taxpayers as to their roles and responsibilities, as contained in the various tax legislations which the department administers. In so doing, the department will present an ideal forum where taxpayers have the opportunity to engage in dialogue and discussions with the various tax officials on a myriad of tax-related matters pertinent to taxpayers.

The main outcome envisaged is a further strengthening of the relationship between the taxpaying public and the tax department.
