IZCO is a non-profit organization that serves mainly in the areas of Marriaqua, Greiggs, Lauders and Lowmans Windward.

It works to honour people for community work, as well as offer training in areas like parenting and business skills.

“We’re here to build capacity in people to decrease poverty and to increase honour and respect in the community,” said Nigel Morgan, the managing director.

During the week of activities from September 30 to October 5, Merton Lewis, an elderly man, and the Mesopotamia Methodist Pre-school and First Impression Pre-school were honoured.

Morgan pointed out that the organization recognizes the pre-schools’ contribution to Mesopotamia in early childhood education.

In addition, the organization plans to focus more on the younger generation through parenting workshops, because many parents are very young.

IZCO said it is encouraging persons to join the organisation, so that they can be a part of positively impacting the community. (BK)
