Vincentians selected for prizes in FCCA Poster and Essay competition

No one won the annual Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Poster and Essay competition, but four Vincentian students who made it to the regional round of both competitions were selected in the junior and senior categories to receive prizes.{{more}}

Yonnette Belmar, communications manager at the Ministry of Tourism, announced on Thursday that Blossom Walker and Ariel Roberts, both of the Girls High School, would each receive US$200 (EC$540) for participating in the poster competition.

Volton John placed second in the regional round of the essay competition, Belmar said.

John received US$1,500 (EC$ 4,050) while his school, the Central Leeward Secondary School, will receive the same amount.

Meanwhile, Melodie Hercules of the Bequia Anglican School received US$200 for her efforts in the junior division of the essay competition.

Minister of Tourism Cecil Mc Kie congratulated the students on their achievements and said he felt proud when the students read their essays.

He encouraged the Ministry of Tourism to intensify its efforts to work with young people.
