The programme, which is held annually, is part of the Green Hill Sports and Cultural Club’s (GHSCC) way of transferring knowledge and skills to the younger ones. This year’s programme focussed on the cassava plant and the making of cassava bread and was held from July 23 to August 10. The 2011 programme focussed on plucking chickens.

Participants also made environmental tours, played sports and held personal development sessions and activities. The club is this year celebrating 31 years of existence as a community based organisation. Support for the 2012 programme came from the Community Development Division, Premier Distributors Ltd. and the GHSCC.

The production of the cassava bread will form part of the club’s 4H Club activity in the future, to encourage its use as part of a healthy meal, among youths in particular.
