According to information received, the man, Christopher Dasent, began complaining that he was experiencing pain when his matter was called up for hearing.

Dasent also alleged that officials at the prisons had beaten him up.

One eye-witness told SEARCHLIGHT that Dasent began trembling in the witness dock, and at one point was unable to stand alone.

Senior Magistrate Donald Browne stood down the court’s hearing and the ambulance was called shortly after.

Dasent was admitted to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital and at press time was still a patient there.
