A rumour has been circulating over the weekend stating that murder convict Daniel âCompayâ Trimmingham had escaped the custody of prison authorities and has been on the run since.{{more}}
When contacted, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Dennis Williams vehemently denied such a claim: âIt is simply what it is, a rumour and nothing else,â he told SEARCHLIGHT yesterday.
âI donât know where people get that from. I ainât too long talk to the man…,â Williams said.
Trimmingham was found guilty of the January 8, 2003 beheading of Albert âBertieâ Browne. He was sentenced to death on Monday, November 17, 2003.
In June 2009, his death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment by the British Privy Council. (KW)
