Jump on board, urges Doyle
While he is happy with the contribution made by some business entities to the annual Uncle Skinnyâs Kids Carnival, head of Stickman Entertainment Gamal âSkinny Fabulousâ Doyle is appealing to others in corporate St Vincent and the Grenadines to jump on board.{{more}}
According to Doyle, while many just see the exciting attractions for children, it all comes at a hefty cost.
Doyle said last Saturdayâs event came at a price tag of approximately $167,000.
âWe had our main sponsor Scotia Bank and between them and Digicel, they were the bulk of the sponsorship. Even with their generous assistance, it doesnât even cover half of what is to be done…,â he disclosed.
Doyle told SEARCHLIGHT that he thought more assistance would have been forthcoming this year.
Unfortunately, that was not the case.
âOver three-quarters, or letâs say 75 per cent of the expenses were from a pocket, a personal pocket…,â he said.
However, Doyle says his payback is that the children have fun when they come to the show.
âIt is a weird thing that a show so successful is not heavily sponsored. It is not beneficial financially,â he said.
Doyle admitted that it is no easy task pulling off such a show. He noted that some of the equipment had to come from as far away as China.
âWe talking about shipping costs and no concessions…,â said Doyle.
At last Saturdayâs show, Doyle hinted to the large crowd that he was willing to put on another Uncle Skinnyâs Kids fair this summer. However, he told SEARCHLIGHT that the idea is heavily dependant on if corporate entities in this country are willing to join with Stickman entertainment.
âWithout their assistance, it would be a very difficult thing to pull off,â Doyle said.(KW)
