An affiliate of the Jems Progressive Organization, the Jems Hope 4 Home on Sunday, June 10, celebrated its first anniversary, with a church service at the Trinity Methodist Church in Brooklyn N.Y, followed by a dinner at the home of President and co-founder Carol Simmons.

At the church service, Pastor Derwin Grant and his congregation made monetary contributions to the group, which is presently sponsoring a female student who is attending the St Clair Dacon Secondary School here in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Also on the agenda for the rest of the year are three fundraising activities, beginning with a Barbecue on August 25; a Bus Ride on October 13; and as part of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Independence celebration, a “Cultural Evening” on October 27, at 520 Saratoga.

Last December, the twelve-member strong organization sent four barrels of foodstuff to Jems Progressive Organization for distribution.

The rest of the executive is Vice President Claudette Haynes, Secretary Roxanne Ballantyne, Treasurer Zaneth Simmons, Assistant Treasurer Chaneth Simmons, with Committee members Vernie Derby and Camerlita Garraway.

The group is expressing its gratitude to Pastor Grant, his congregation and all the other persons who have assisted them throughout the last year.
