Burgin, an 11-year-old student of the Kingstown Government School, tied with three other persons for the highest score in General Paper.
Burgin gained 96.67 per cent in General Paper, 73 per cent in English and 85 per cent in Mathematics. She placed 20th for girls and 40th overall.
The reserved, soft spoken student told SEARCHLIGHT that she was content with her marks, but thought she could have done better in English Language.
Burgin stated that she studied hard and also gave up television during preparation for the exams.
While in the examination room, she, however, was focused, and thought only about doing her best. âI just wanted to do very good, I was just hoping that I passed with a good mark,â she said.
Burgin, who wants to become a nurse, hopes to continue her education at the Girlsâ High School this September. She, however, intends to have lots of fun over the summer, and get a head start on reading texts for her new school. (OS)
