OECS Authority to meet at Buccament Bay Resort

The 55th OECS Authority Meeting will be held from June 10 to 12 at the Buccament Bay Resort here in St Vincent and the Grenadines.{{more}}

The OECS Authority, Director General of the OECS, Secretary General of CARICOM, delegations from the OECS Commission, Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation and Eastern Caribbean Telecommunication Authority, among others, will be present.

The discussion will focus on the recently formed OECS Economic Union. Also to take place is the handing over of the OECS chairmanship from outgoing chair – Dr Kenny Anthony, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, to the incoming chair – Dr Ralph E. Gonsalves of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The agenda will also involve such matters as: Report of the Commission; Activities to Support Free Circulation of Goods; Commencement of Operations of the Economic Affairs Council; Inauguration of OECS Assembly; Report on the OECS-EU Relationship; Report on the Application by Martinique and Guadeloupe for Associate Membership.

A release from the Agency for Public Information said this is an historic meeting that will address many important issues to ensure the deepening of integration within the OECS. This meeting also represents commitment to strengthening and achieving regional integration goals and objectives within the Eastern Caribbean.

The OECS Authority meeting commences with an opening ceremony at the Buccament Bay Resort at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday June 10.
