The theme is:âAccelerating Vincentian Investmentsâ.
The Vincentian community in the UK will witness the first of its kind – the recognition of deserving nationals for their hard work and dedication to businesses and community services. This will take the form of an Award Ceremony and Gala Dinner at the Prestigious May Fair Hotel in Central London. Recipients will be UK based Vincentians who would have demonstrated that they are the most influential, responsible, business oriented and capable individuals and/or businesses. Some of these businesses are family owned and operated, while others are jointly owned by nationals and non-nationals.
This event is in its inaugural year and the High Commission is hopeful that it will secure sponsorship for future events. Major sponsors for this yearâs event came from Zamora Global – property developers with high interest in SVG, as well as the Bank of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Other sponsors are members of the diplomatic corps; International Diplomatic Services; Chacalli; Vincy Foods/Caribbean Trade Limited; the Royal Garden Hotel all based in the UK/London; WINFRESH; St Vincent Brewery Ltd.; Mountain Top Water; InvestSVG and other well wishers.
The lead organizer of this event, Minister Counsellor Doris Charles, continues to shower praise on both of the major sponsors. With just about two weeks to go, last minute preparations are taking place. The High Commissioner Cenio Lewis continues to support this initiative and urges that our nationals be encouraged to participate.
As trade, development and investment issues are part of her portfolio, Charles has said that she believes the stage is set for this to become an annual event on the calendar of activities for the High Commission. She added that the High Commission seeks to acknowledge widely the most respected and responsible businesses within the Diaspora.
The Awards for Excellence 2012 are being positioned as the primary means by which businesses in the Vincentian Diaspora would continue to identify, celebrate and disseminate good business practices and communicate the positive impact they are having on respective communities. By extension, with the coming on stream of the International Airport, it is the aim that co-operative ventures and strategic business alliances will be forged with the Diaspora and the home country – SVG.
The presentation of the SVG Business Awards for Excellence 2012 will take place in the form of an Awards Ceremony at a Gala Dinner, taking place at the May Fair Hotel, May Fair on Tuesday, May 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Awards Ceremony/Gala Dinner is going to be a celebration of the successful impact Vincentian businesses made throughout the various communities in which they have migrated to, for over twenty years in some cases.
As well as recognizing the innovative and inspiring businesses, this glittering occasion would also provide an excellent opportunity to network and exchange best practices.
The networking aspect of the event is expected to have over 25 investors who are also keen on investing in SVG.
The keynote speaker at the event will be Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves.
Other speakers are the Foreign Minister Dr Douglas Slater who will make brief remarks, as well as members of the Diplomatic Corps. It is also expected that the Director of the Regional Integration Diaspora Unit Ellsworth John, officials of the Bank of Saint Vincent – CEO Derry Williams, The Chairman – Mr Errol Allen would be among of the distinguished presenters.
The SVG Awards for Excellence Gala dinner and Award Ceremony will welcome close to 200 representatives from businesses, community organizations, the media and other key stakeholders.
The evening will commence with reception drinks, followed by a formal dinner and the presentation of the Awards.
It is believed that this event will once again demonstrate the High Commissionâs commitment to a responsible investment/business agenda.
