This time some 21 members were awarded in a special commitment ceremony, for their successful participation in the Companyâs Badge Workshop which was organized over two days, from April 13 to 14.
This workshop was organized to encourage the girls to work diligently towards completing interest and service badges, an integral part of the Guiding Programme at both Brownie and Girl Guide Levels.
One of the methods through which Guides are encouraged to pursue their interests and to become truly proficient and rounded citizens, is by achieving competence at a number of levels in particular skills. On this occasion the girls were able to complete and work towards more than ten badges including Deaf and Sight Awareness, Musician, Flower Arranger, Agility, Challenge, World Guiding, Homemakers among others.
For consistency in attendance, punctuality and subscription, Nadifa Joseph emerged as the best performer for the term, and along with her, Alohilani Lowman, Briana Glasgow and Nsala Findlay were specially recognized.
The teenagers participated in a commitment ceremony as part of the awards evening where they recommitted themselves to the Organization and spoke aloud their individual pledges to become involved in setting the example for their friends and leading among their peers and in their communities. This ceremony was witnessed by the Guidesâ parents and will become a regular fixture of the Guide Programme for the No. 28 Guide Company.
