Gumbs to present inaugural GHS anniversary lecture
The Girlsâ High School will host their inaugural anniversary lecture next Thursday, with a lecture by an alumna from the class of 1985.{{more}}
Alana Gumbs, an Industrial Engineer and Management Consultant, will speak on the topic âRe-draining our brainsâ, on May 10 at Frenches House, from 8:00 p.m.
The lecture will be held in commemoration of the 101st anniversary of the school, which occurs on May 8.
Alana was born in St Vincent and the Grenadines. In 1986, she left St Vincent and the Grenadines for Canada to attend University and attained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from York University and a Bachelorâs degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto.
Alana resides in Ontario, Canada and is currently on a Project Management assignment in the Financial Services industry. She has worked in a variety of other industries, including: Information Technology, Business Process Outsourcing, Global Courier Services, Customs Brokerage, Contact Centres, Telecommunications, Electric Utilities, Health Services, Media and Publishing. Alana has successfully completed international engagements at top tier global corporations, including: FedEx, Citigroup, EDS, Standard and Poor`s and Business Week.
Alana advocates for charity through grass root efforts and is currently involved in initiatives related to Education, Micro Financing and Anti-Violence. Alana strives hard for work-life balance and is passionate about travelling and experiencing the worldâs convergence. As far and as wide as she ventures, Alanaâs greatest passion remains her homeland, St Vincent and the Grenadines.
