NBC Radio celebrates 25 years of broadcasting

The state-owned National Broadcasting Corporation, NBC Radio is today, Friday, July 1, celebrating its 25th anniversary as a Corporation.{{more}}

The official week of activities began on Sunday, June 27 with a Church Service at the Streams of Power Church at Sion Hill presided over by Pastor Errol Daniel.

The NBC staff, outfit with NBC Blazers, were joined by the Minister of Information Maxwell Charles, Permanent Secretary Sandra Davis; Past and Present Members of the Board of Directors, as well as former Members of Staff including Jean Duncan, Shelly Clarke, Bernard John, Bobby Fraser, Nina Maloney,Theresa Daniel, Director of Public Prosecutions Collin Williams, Mike Findlay, Bernard Joseph, Chester Connell, Maxian Harry and Jennifer Richardson.

Congratulatory Messages will continue throughout the period of celebrations, and there will also be features and a Documentary on former members of staff.

A special tribute to the late Glen Jackson, who died on March 6 2006, was broadcast during the week as well as a special edition of the program Memory Lane by former General Manager Nina Maloney.

Clients’ Appreciation Day was held on Thursday June 30 and the public is invited to visit the Corporation during the period of celebrations which end in November this year. The public will have another opportunity to view old broadcast equipment and photographs with past NBC workers.

The National Broadcasting Corporation was established on July 1 1986 and celebrations to mark twenty five years as a Corporation are being held under the theme: “Re-Energized: NBC Celebrates 25”.
