Recruits ‘pass out’

The Passing Out Parade of recruits held every year at the Old Montrose Police Station took on a whole new meaning last Thursday, June 2.{{more}}

It may have been the blazing sun or the build up of anxiety which caused four recruits to faint while on parade. The four, who fell in quick succession of each other, were whisked away to cool shade and given a drink of water.

However, that was not going to spoil the recruits’ big day as the four brave recruits recuperated and rejoined their fellow graduands on the parade square to the applause of those gathered.

A total of 54 police officers graduated, with a number of them receiving awards.

PC 733 Rohan Holder delivered the valedictory address, and PC 841 Josh Hamilton was adjudged the best recruit.

The next batch of recruits will commence training in August this year, with 55 new recruits.
