Vincentian men arrested in Barbados waters

On May 4, 2011 an operation was conducted, within the territorial waters of Barbados, and during this operation a Vincentian vessel along with a total of 12 packages of marijuana were seized.{{more}} Two Vincentian, Wynnerd Larson Mapp of Calder Village and Igino Ricardo Neverson of Chateaubelair were arrested.

The over all weight of the drugs was 171 Kilos. Vincentians Wynnerd Larson Mapp and Igino Ricardo Neverson were remanded to prison in Barbados last week after appearing in court on drug charges.

Mapp, a 26-year-old steel bender of Calder Village, and Neverson, a fisherman of Chateaubelair, were arrested on Wednesday, May 4, following a drug bust off St. Lucy around 5:20 p.m.

Police public relations officer Inspector David Welch said last week that 12 bags of cannabis weighing 376 pounds were retrieved after being thrown overboard as the men tried to escape police.

They were pursued and caught during the Drug Squad-led operation which involved the Barbados Coast Guard and the Regional Security System.

The men are now on remand at Her Majesty’s Prisons, Dodds.
