CWSA gearing up for ‘Water Week’ celebration

The CWSA will celebrate “Water Week” from April 10th – 16th, 2011, under the theme “Solving water challenges with sustainable growth and a customer oriented approach”.{{more}}

Water Week is an annual event within the CWSA and is used to highlight and emphasize activities within the execution of its mandate, which is the provision of water, solid waste and sewerage management in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The week of activities is a packed one and targets schools, communities and the general public throughout the country. If total participation is received from all stakeholders, at the end of this week of activities the following objectives will have been realized:

• Every primary and secondary school will have focused on water conversation for at least five minutes.

• Form three students from seven secondary schools around Kingstown will know more about career options.

• Residents on the Grenadine island of Bequia will be more knowledgeable about the need to pay the environmental fee.

• The general public will have learned more about the CWSA through the planned radio programs on NBC Radio, Nice Radio, WE FM and Star Radio.

• Two communities – South Rivers and Petit Bordel will be cleaner, and residents more educated about the importance of keeping a clean environment.

• Customers will benefit from discount initiatives during that particular week.
