SVG Gospel Fest 2011 officially opens this Sunday

Plans are now being finalized for the grand opening of SVG Gospel Fest 2011. The christian festival, which is into its ninth year, will be officially opened this Sunday, April 3, at the Victoria Park, at 6.00 pm.{{more}}

The night’s program, dubbed: “Declaring God to the Nation,” will feature an evening of praise in worship, song and dance. Scheduled to appear are gospel bands Driven and Gospel Gems, dance groups Holirem Dancers, The Ecclesia and Shabach, along with singers Teshorn Edwards, Kinique Adams and Dawnlyn Bynoe. One of the highlights of the evening will be the appearance of the most outstanding performers from the 2010 festival: Zonel Carter and Keleta Cruickshank of the Vermont Miracle Tabernacle, as well as the Agape Performing group from the Kingstown Methodist Church.

Addresses will come from chairman of the Gospel Fest committee Fidel Taylor, Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs Maxwell Charles, with Minister of Culture Frederick Stephenson officially declaring the festival open.

Guest artiste for the show will be international gospel superstar Jason Mighty, out of Jamaica, who will be presenting some of his latest hits such as: “Mighty Man in Battle”, “Praise I Do” and “One Soul”.

SVG Gospel Fest is a month long festival of zonal and national gospel showcases across St. Vincent and the Grenadines with performances in music, song, dance, drama and sermonette.

The 2011 Festival is being held under the theme: “Declaring the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory of God”.
