On February 26, a group of young people came together to begin this youth movement to mirror the Credit Union’s philosophy of volunteerism, involvement and opportunities.

The group was greeted with enthusiastic remarks from the President of the TCCU, Cheryl Evans, the Chairman of the Education Committee Ray La Borde, and General Manager Julian Jack.

The youths were challenged to use the opportunity for self-development, financial shrewdness and positive interaction among their peers. They were also notified of the possibilities which exist for participation with youths of other regional and international Credit Unions.

Representatives from the TCCU sponsored schools’ co-operatives were also present. Together, these ‘Game Changers’ suggested ways in which the TCCU can continue to be of benefit to young persons in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. These ideas were categorized under education and financial assistance, sports insurance, mentoring programs, and various forms of sponsorship.

A committee was selected from among the group to partner with the Marketing and Development Department of the Credit Union, to facilitate the growth of the movement. The members of the committee are Vanelle Matthias, Clinteisha Franklyn, Kris James, Kayla Roberts, Somorow Joseph, Romain David and Jourleen James.

In determining the group’s name and logo, a competition will be launched on the credit union’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/tccusvg. The winner will receive among other prizes, gifts and material from Macmillan Caribbean.

All the participants received gift packages compliments Macmillan on February 26.

The group will meet again at 9:30 am on Saturday, March 5 and 26, to formalize their proposals to the Credit Union.

Young persons willing to be a ‘Game Changer’ are welcome to be a part of this happening.
