According to Steve Francis, General Manager, “The purpose of the workshop is to enhance participants’ understanding and working knowledge of ship to shore procedures and the competencies required to perform a tanker discharge or loading”.

The main objective is for participants to acquire and develop a working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles governing the safe operation of oil tankers and LPG carriers and thus effectively complete a ship to shore check list with a certified officer appointed by the ship’s Master.

The workshop will be based on the principles outlined in the International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals which is the prime source of technical guidance for tankers and terminals as well as the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) marine terminal baseline criteria.

Participants will be drawn from Sol participating countries which include: Anguilla, Barbados, Dominica, St.Kitts, St.Lucia, Tortola and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as the local Coast Guard and Customs and Excise Department. Resource person will be George Sealy of GLS Marine Associates of Barbados.
