Digicel introduces revolutionary Mobile QR Code in SVG

With the impact of mobile technology radically transforming the way we live and work, businesses are also experiencing new opportunities to connect with their customers via mobile.{{more}}

In this regard, Digicel is once again taking the lead in St. Vincent and the Grenadines to introduce one of the newest technologies associated with mobile telecommunications – the QR code.

This two-dimension bar code allows a person with a data-enabled smartphone to simply use the camera associated with the phone to scan the code and be immediately connected to that business website, even without knowing the web address of the business.

Digicel has already implemented this technology, enabling its Blackberry customers to simply scan the Digicel Blackberry QR code and instantly be added to the Digicel Blackberry Messenger list. So far some 402 persons have already taken this opportunity to be able to exchange directly.

This was launched in a promotion and the winner is Andre Robinson, who won a Blackberry Torch and free data.

Going forward, Digicel will be implementing this new means of access in all of its advertising material appearing in SVG.

“Now anyone, anywhere, who wants to contact the Digicel website simply scans the code wherever they see it and be instantly connected,” said Justin John, Digicel Marketing Executive. “Digicel led the way eight years ago to bring mobile technology to the masses and so it’s natural for us to continue the lead as the technology advances in the best interest of the customer and to do so by first making use of it.”

Now Digicel customers in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be able to select and view the company’s website, become a fan of the company’s exciting Facebook page, view the latest and hottest promotions or contact the customer care team.
