United Insurance sponsors Bequia Easter Regatta 2011

United Insurance Company Ltd has signed on as a sponsor of the Bequia Easter Regatta 2011.{{more}}

Barnards Ltd, one of two local agents for United, recently handed over a cheque for EC$ 7,500 to the Bequia Sailing Club to support what promises to be another exciting Regatta. As part of their sponsorship, United will also sponsor the J/24 three-Race Series on Easter Saturday, which will now be named the United Insurance Challenge.

In handing over the cheque, John Barnard, Managing Director of Barnards Ltd, commented: “We, along with our sister agency – United Agencies Ltd – are proud to be part of United’s support of the Bequia Easter Regatta 2011. Like United, we recognize the importance of contributing positively to the communities in which we live and operate. We appreciate that we can do this, not only via United’s innovative general insurance products and services, but through the support of local sporting events which are a vital aspect of life within the communities we serve. It’s important to note that United sponsors sports throughout the Caribbean, and indeed this is not the first regatta the company has sponsored. United has played a vital role in the Grenada Sailing Festival since 2007, and most recently sponsored the United Insurance Racing Cup in Barbados last December.

United is particularly pleased to be a sponsor of the Saturday J/24 three-Race Series in the Bequia Easter Regatta, since the overall winner of the J/24 Class in Bequia also becomes the 2011 J/24 Southern Caribbean Champion. “It’s clear that the entire regatta is a major event for the J/24 Class, and we are delighted to be part of it”, said Barnard.

The Bequia Easter Regatta takes place from April 21- 25, 2011, and the organizers and United are looking forward to a weekend of exciting competition involving 50+ yachts from around the Caribbean and the world.
