Vynnette Frederick: You must kill the bill!

Senator Vynnette Frederick kept the momentum going during Tuesday’s protest by repeating that the Unity Labour Party (ULP) administration cannot pass legislation here to make its one seat majority safe at the expense of the rights of others.{{more}}

“You cannot want to make your one seat majority safe, so you decide you teking way everybody rights. You crazy or what? You is a mad man? Where did you sit down in Cabinet and come up with that stupid idea? That is the most crap I’ve ever heard of in my whole life,” said Frederick, the Public Relations Officers of the New Democratic Party (NDP).

Her remarks to the crowd of NDP supporters were made on Bay Street, Kingstown, where protesters had gathered in front of the Main Administrative Building, which houses the office of Prime Minister

Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.

It came against the backdrop of an amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code of St.Vincent and the Grenadines and a proposed amendment to the Representation of the People Act.

She said the only reason why the ULP administration is amending the Representation of the People Act is to secure the Government.

“They protecting they self and taking way everybody rights,” said Frederick.

She said the amendment to the Bills was hidden away in the Estimates of the 2011 National Budget, with the aim that the NDP Members of Parliament would not read it.

Frederick credited Eustace as the first person who notified Vincentians that the amendments to the two pieces of legislation would affect their rights.

“The people are saying ‘no’, the people are saying ‘no’, we do not want that legislation. You must kill the bill, you must kill the bill.”(JJ)
