5.1 magnitude earthquake felt by four Caribbean islands

An earthquake, of magnitude 5.1, was felt by residents in at least four Caribbean islands that experienced the tremors around 8:16 a.m., last Friday.{{more}}

The earthquake is said to have occurred at a depth of 144 km, 11.36° N and 61.87° W of the Para Peninsula, Trinidad.

Reports claim that the earthquake was felt throughout Trinidad, from Carenage to Princes Town to Sangre Grande. The event was also reportedly felt in Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Lucia.

No damage nor injuries were reported to the Seismic Research Centre.

Residents of St.Vincent and the Grenadines will be kept updated as more information comes to hand.

No tsunami warning was issued.
