PM defends Luke Browne against NDP accusations

Prime Minister and political leader of the Unity Labour Party (ULP) Dr Ralph Gonsalves has denied any wrongdoing by his party’s East Kingstown candidate, Luke Browne.{{more}}

“The allegations are false,” Gonsalves declared, adding that it was a typical strategy of the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) to lie.

“Is five or six law suits I have had against them (NDP), they have lied against me and I have won every single one,” he told SEARCHLIGHT.

“They have lied against Luke Browne and they are getting desperate and the evidence will emerge that they are lying.”

“Eustace is a liar and a hypocrite,” Gonsalves said.

According to the Prime Minister, the Opposition Leader had lied on him saying that he (Gonsalves) had gone to Chateaubelair to cause confusion.

“I went down there in my capacity as Prime Minister and Minister of National Security and as leader of the ULP party to see that law and order is maintained in this country,” Gonsalves told SEARCHLIGHT.

He said that Eustace had not condemned the thugs, and those behind the thugs, who according to Gonsalves, include persons who traffic in narcotics.

“I will not allow any baby Dudus; micro Dudus or wannabe Dudus to take root in this country and what they have said about Luke Browne is false,” he reiterated, adding that all that Browne did was to transport people.

Gonsalves said that he saw nothing wrong with giving a ride to persons who were going to be registered.

“He (Arnhim) is desperate because he knows he is losing; he not only losing the election generally, he is losing his seat and he is getting more licks than the last time and in 2001.”

“All they (the NDP) are about is no, no, no and Ralph,” he said.

“Being against Ralph is not a project or a policy.”

“It doesn’t matter how many lies they tell about me, the people of this country know I love them and they have returned the love to me,” Gonsalves said. (DD)
