Lavia off to Grenada

Grade 5 Owia Primary School student Nickleson Lavia will appear on SVG TV’s newscast tonight, to read a segment of the news.{{more}}

He will then leave for Grenada tomorrow, where he will compete in the finals of the COURTS OECS reading competition.

As part of Lavia’s prize for winning the local leg of the competition, he received the opportunity to be a newscaster.

On his Grenada outing he will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Education along with COURTS Marketing Executive Alexis John.

Nickleson, who won the local leg of the competition on October 19, will also be accompanied by his school principal Elva Springer, Hannah Browne, Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, as he takes part in the finals, which take place this Thursday, at the Grenada Trade Center.

If successful in this leg of the competition, Nickleson will win himself a laptop computer and EC $5,000.

His school will also win $5,000.

The confident Nickleson will come up against students from St. Kitts, Antigua, Dominica, St. Lucia and host country Grenada in the finals.

Last year’s final was won by Grenada.
