Mandarin Restaurant opens in SVG

Vincentians can now enjoy a variety of Chinese mandarin dishes served in a relaxed, luxury setting at the newly opened Mandarin Restaurant at Villa.{{more}}

The restaurant was officially opened to the public on Sunday, October 24, 2010. However a special opening was done on Saturday for business persons, officials and media to sample the dishes at the restaurant.

Speaking to reporters, owner of the restaurant John Leung stated that he decided to open the restaurant after he came to St. Vincent a few years ago and fell in love with the country.

Leung, originally from Hong Kong, added that he intends to open another similar restaurant and a market in Kingstown, as well as a hotel and casino in the vicinity of the Argyle international airport site.

The restaurant, which is housed in the building that was formerly The Tolco Hotel, is capable of seating 120 persons and will serve meals such as sweet and sour pork, chicken and fish; filleted fish, as well as noodles and rice meals.

According to Leung, the main chefs of the restaurant are from China and from Toronto, Canada. The staff of thirteen consists of local and foreign persons.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week from 11am to 9pm.(OS)
