Regional Toastmasters for Sunset Shores meet

This weekend, over 125 Toastmasters from throughout the region will join Toastmasters from the local clubs to convene the 9th Annual District 81 Toastmasters Conference at the Sunset Shores and Paradise Beach Hotel.{{more}}

This prestigious event will prove the mettle of our local clubs which have been making their mark on the regional Toastmasters scene since the inception of the first, Achievers Toastmasters Club in 2006.

The bid to host the Conference here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines was unanimously decided, mainly as a result of the mammoth achievements of our local members during their short existence in ‘toastmastering’.

During this October Conference, the Annual Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contests will take place. St. Vincent and the Grenadines will make a serious bid to retain the title of District 81 Humorous Speaking Champion, won by Toastmaster Gloria Williams in last October’s Conference held in Barbados.

This year’s contestants will be Toastmaster Glenda Matthews for the Humorous Contest and Toastmaster Barbara Soso for the Evaluation Contest. These contests will take place on Saturday, 16th October, at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown, at 2:30 pm.

Although the Conference will concentrate on the enhancement of the communication and leadership skills of attending Toastmasters, certain sessions will also be open to members of the public interested in being a part of the whole affair. Some of these are: the Speech and Evaluation Contest on Saturday afternoon; and the Banquet and Awards Ceremony at the Sunset Shores Hotel on Saturday evening, beginning at 8:00 pm.
