Olympic Committee offering $1,000 in art competition

Vincentians have an opportunity to win an art competition with a grand prize of $1,000.{{more}}

This competition is being hosted by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Olympic Committee (SVGNOC) under the theme: London 2012 – Our People, Our Sport, Our Future.

Entries should relate to the aforementioned theme. They should also reflect the promise and importance of being part of London 2012.

The SVGNOC, in its rules and guidelines, said all entries must also be registered online at www.svgnoc.org or by calling 457-2970 to receive a registration number. Entrants are warned that entries received without a registration confirmation number or with an incomplete form will not be accepted.

Only one entry is allowed per person and this may take the form of the following media: Painting (acrylic, oil, water colour, gouache, etc); Drawing (pencil, ink, pastel, charcoal, crayon, etc); and Mixed Media (collage, etc).

The entry cannot be larger than 11 x 17 inches and must be un-matted unless the matte is part of the artwork.

Submissions will be judged on the following criteria: Relationship of work to the theme, Originality, Creativity, Composition and Presentation.

All submissions must be received by October 15, 2010, at the SVGNOC’s office at Kingstown Park.

The winners will be announced later in October after a judging process by certified art instructors.

All submissions must be clearly labelled with the artist’s name and registration confirmation number on the back of the artwork.

The participant must be the artist and owner of the work submitted to the competition.

Entrants are warned that no copyrighted material may be submitted.

All entries become the property of SVGNOC. The organization also states that it reserves the right to use, publish, or otherwise display the work or permit it to be used by others.

For more information or questions, contact Administrative Secretary Olympic House, Kingstown Park, 784-457-2970 or by email at svgnoc@vincysurf.com.
