SVGHRA collect signatures against Boundaries Commission

Over 2,000 signatures have been collected from persons around St. Vincent and the Grenadines in support of a petition by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Human Rights Association (SVGHRA) to ‘Say No’ to the Boundaries Commission.{{more}}

Lawyer Kay Bacchus-Browne made this disclosure during a press conference at her chambers on Tuesday, September 21, 2010.

Bacchus-Browne said copies of the petition are being circulated throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and will be presented to the court.

The petition refers to claim No:234 of 2010 which alleges that “The Commission acted unconstitutionally in breach of natural justice contrary to law; failed to consult the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines; took irrelevant matters into account; had an improper motive and gerrymandering….”

The SVGHRA is also encouraging persons to support the petition if they agree that “a boundaries commission follows the Constitution and not one that looked at voters list, polling division list, elections and report.”
